Game development education

Unread post by Duckminator » 11 Jan 2018, 22:04

Hey everyone,

I'm finishing an AP degree in Multimedia Design soon. I was wondering what you all think would be the best Top-up I can take to get into game development, i'm looking for something that's taught in english. I'll listen to any advice!

Thank you

I guess the counter question is.. what is 'your thing and drive' and where do you want to go?

There are many disciplines within game development. You would have to find a focus for starters. And select further education based on that.

Well I really enjoy coding but I'd also want to be involved with game design. I'm currently doing both of those as part of a hobby project with a couple friends.

I'm no expert on all the educations in Denmark. But with that said.

I would aim at and look into game design courses at ITU if I was you. I'm pretty sure it's in English.

Yeah I've seen this. I guess I'll have to do a non-related Top-up first, because my current education gives me an AP degree, so i need to get a BP

Yeah that's the tricky part.
Data science is taught in English. If you have a knack for coding. Might be a good step.

Dania also have games specific courses. But I think it's Danish only.

Anyways.. keep making games with your little team. That's worth a whole lot! :)

Maybe others in the current system can recommend an even better path?

May I recommend our master program in Visual Game and Media Design at KADK (Danish Design School)?
https://kadk.dk/en/programme/visual-gam ... dia-design

We teach game design and development with a visual focus, but including game design and programming. You will be making games almost all the time.

Our graduates typically work as visual artists, game designers, or with UI/UX.

Application deadline is March 1st.
