byProxy is looking for a Unity programmer (unpaid)

byProxy is a small but ambitious indie company hard at work on our first game title. Design and concept are coming along very nicely, but now we need a talented programmer to help bring all the ideas and visuals to life. Is that you?

You might be unemployed, with all the time in the world, or just looking for a nice spare-time project. You might have a couple of years experience from the industry or maybe you are an old, wrinkled veteran. In any case, take a look at http://www.byproxy.dk, and if you like what you see, please drop us a line. :)

Looks like a game I'd play! Could you say a few words about the project and the team?

We are always happy to share. Especially to potential future players ;-)

The Game
The game is an atmospheric adventure, where investigation and dialogs are merged with the occasional gun fight action. Frank, our gunslinger protagonist, must traverse multiple realities to learn the truth about his past. This “truth” is not set in stone at the offset of the game, but rather something the player helps define as we go along.

The Story
It is the story of a man, Frank Dust, who returns to his home town, deep in the desert, after 17 years absence, in order to witness the opening of his father’s will. Puzzled by the realization that his father is not dead, he begins to investigate a murder, which apparently has not yet happened.

As old friends and enemies emerge, he realizes that the past has become the present, and as memories of an old, desert evil materialize, he must confront his own inner - and the much more real - demons of his past, in order to save, not only his father and his own younger self, but also a young girl, long dead, who might be the key to it all.

Not everyone, not already dead, will survive this ordeal.

byProxy
by Proxy is based in Copenhagen and has been in existence for about 6 months. The team is currently small - a graphics artist (Kim) and a game designer (Jeppe) - both with quite a bit of experience from professional game productions (10+ years).

The (Near) Future
Parallel to the ongoing development of the game we are also trying to raise a bit of funding (aren’t we all!). Our immediate goal will be the next DFI deadline in May, but we are also looking at other funding options.

In order to be able to present as powerful a pitch as we can, we want to try bring on a programmer a bit earlier than we maybe normally would in order to get a demo/prototype/vertical slice done - the extent of which of course depends on said programmer :-)

Thanks for elaborating. I think it looks like a game with great DFI-potential.

I still kinda miss some basic information on the team. Since you don't share your names here or on your website, so I have no idea if you are two Copenhagen-based dudes straight out of the Danish Design School or if you are two girls from Aalborg. I have no idea how long your company has existed and what you guys did before. And I'd love to know. I guess a potential applicant would like to know stuff like that too. Would you mind sharing who you are and where you are located? I'm Thomas by the way.

Good luck with finding a programmer and with your DFI-application. Have you considered posting the job on Interactive Denmark's job board?

You are right. It's not the car that sells the car, it's the salesman.

Identities have been added above. :)
