COPENHAGEN - November 29, 2021 – Copenhagen-based Nordisk Games has acquired the Danish games studio Flashbulb Games, having previously invested 16,5 million DKK in the studio for a 43% stake. So after 20 years of R&D. Atomontage's 'micro-voxel' tech is out in open beta.

Sadly the web examples doesn't really look that promising. Super chunky data streaming and the interactive examples are nearly useless. For games built on this setup it is probably dead on arrival. For stand alone builds it might fare better.
For data visualization the tech might find some footing.

Hehe I actually liked watching this more than the movie trailer. Honestly thought the movie trailer looked a bit meh. And neither movie trailer or demo has convinced me to buy a ticket for the theatre. I'm sure a lot of people disagrees! That's fine!

Update: The reviews and scores are out... ouch!! A current 4.1 in user score on metacritic. 62 in meta score... yeah kinda only confirms my feelings about the trailer. All in all Matrix Resurrections sounds somwhere in between meh and trash . That's an auto-skip for me. The first Matrix was super great back in the days! Then it spiralled down from there like so many franchises before it.

It should be live to download on Xbox Series X and PS5 as we speak.

Hmmmm I wonder if they actually used UE5 for certain scenes in the movie, rendering out the frames with the path tracer features.

Wouldn't be surprised if they are using the engine for virtual production. And the city in the demo is actually the city 'as is' in the movie itself used for >specific shots<.

Former workplace Logic Artist's 'Expeditions: Rome' also got a release date trailer. Releasing the 20th of January 2022.

The game has big ass ~300.000 words script. Fully voiced. So there should be something for the more story loving players.

So the first proper HALO TV series trailer hits.. seems pretty neat actually! Looks like they have put a large budget to good work.

The biggest barrier for large scale popularity might just be the Paramount+ streaming service itself. The app seems to universally hated and few people want's to subscribe to yet another streaming service. This whole battle of the streaming services will surely drive more people back to piracy. Just as the streaming service concept had won a lot by pure convenience.

But let's see where it lands! Trailers are just trailers. So far positive on the quality of the show even with my initial skepticism.

So finally there exists some pretty good looking "video-motion capture". Not mocap suit needed! Only a video camera.
It's not quite perfect yet. But certainly already good enough for a range of casual applications.

Figment 2 from Bedtime Digital Games. But we already know that! Of cause coming to Switch is the new thing. A good and predictable move nonetheless. It's looking great!
