What is the F Word? by Miguel Sicart
Why do we care about Fun? What has Fun ever done for us? In this provocative talk, Miguel Sicart will explore issues regarding the concept of Fun, how it affects our approach to game design, and how design and fun form an abusive relationship. In this talk Miguel will also suggest how to call it quits, and enjoy life and game design without the F word.
Miguel Sicart is an assistant professor at the IT University of Copenhagen. He is the author os The Ethics of Computer Games: http://mitpress.mit.edu/catalog/item/de ... &tid=11758

Measuring the F Word by Georgios Yannakakis
How can we measure fun? Does it makes sense to come up with a magic formula? Even if we can; how can games benefit from it? This talk will explore ways for capturing notions of player experience and propose approaches for creating personalized games that maximize the F word without direct human intervention.
Georgios Yannakakis is an associate professor at the IT University of Copenhagen and director of the GameAI Group.
