Figment 2 lands on Overwhelmingly Positive reviews!
Very cool! And grats! :D

Image

Sales looks however a bit on the lowish side for this point in time. My expectations was a bit higher. A rough estimate of 5000-10000 sales on Steam so far. I hope they will pick it up over time. But sadly the current trend is not super promising.
https://steamdb.info/app/1085220/charts/

Also not forgetting there are also all the other console platforms Figment 2 is out on. So the combined number is certainly higher. :)
And there is plenty of future sales to boost the units shipped.

But so far super great to see the title break into Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam! That's Overwhelmingly Positive to hear! ;)

Adding: The first Figment seemed to have do rather well over time! :) However the spike of the 2. march was the free weekend leading up the the Figment 2 launch as a PR vehicle. So the chart estimate sales figures cannot be taken as completely representative data for actual sales.
Currently Figment 1 is outpacing the sequel in active players by a pretty big factor. We will likely see some F2 sales from players wanting more Figment when they are done with the first game. Or also super great to have the Friend recommending effect on Steam so Figment 1 sales will also increase to some degree. Figment wins regardless!
https://steamdb.info/app/493540/charts/
I still expect Figment 2 to do pretty ok over time. But lets see! :)

Always good blog posts from Chris Zukowski

The games that you like probably aren’t the ones that sell well on Steam

Pretty wild game AI from inworld.ai there will certainly be more of this in the future. It's going to be a wild ride!

More on
https://www.inworld.ai/origins

The Future of NPCs: AI-powered MetaHuman in Inworld Origins, an Unreal Engine demo

Youtuber giving it a go.

Origins will be releasing on Steam. Also apply for Early Access on their website

Also it is something you can implement in your own game

Well it's a few years old now. I remember Milo was being demoed by Peter Molyneux at the ITU back in 2009. And in contrast to the orchestrated video. It was very clear the Milo project was completely broken for any real world application at the time. But I think this is the around the level we see now he was dreaming of.

Embergen 1.0

Looks super neat!
But I have a sneaking suspicion we will see similar levels in Unreal in not too long. They already have similar real time volumetric eg. fire and explosions a working in the engine. I would find i hard to believe they wouldn't push it even further.

Triband did a colloboration with the giga hit Among Us developers Innersloth on the latest What the Golf? update.
Pretty wild! :)

Guessing this might just be the beginning of future cross IP collaborations for the IP.

SYBO is certainly betting on the endless casual color matching puzzle games market. Now with Subways Surfers Blast.

Subway Surfers Tag developed by Funday Games in Aarhus also took home a Mobile Games Award 2023.
Grats to them!

Not sure if this is in-house or a Miniclip thing mostly? Or a combination? I guess it would be a possibility that Miniclip would have a ton of casual games reskinable templates on stock. But who knows! btw. It Would be smart if they did have templates of a lot of tried and tested gameplays in the f2p space.
But nice to see the release cadence is picking up. Though it's a bit far from the cool skater kids demographics and more a focus on the gamer-moms type of gameplays. Not that it is "exclusive gameplay types" but it does twist the perceived image of brand of the IP quite a bit.

*Update: Ahh mystery solved! The game is out now and reveals it has been developed by british OutPlay Entertainment. Also it would be very likely the SYBO had a hand and oversight on the project.
'Match' only has SYBO's name to it. So it seems nothing external was involved there as to what I can see at this moment.

Blast is now available on Google Play.

One of my old colleagues Jesper Rasmussen and is partner in crime, Jonas Olmstead just passed 1.000.000 plays of their zombie shooter game Dead Again on poki.com

I kid my self I have a tiny hand in the success as I did advice (they even choose to follow!) to some extent on the mobile controls. :D

But that is pretty amazing! Hope it goes even better!

Demo of DK indie project The Girl Who Kicked a Rabbit.
Devloped by 'takunomi' a small indie dev team.

The Girl Who Kicked a Rabbit demo in itch
https://takunomi.itch.io/girl-who-kicked

Adding: Actually just gave the demo a spin. It's pretty cool! :D
It's this novel (I think?!) concept where you craft attacks and abilities AS you are engaged in turn based combat. You can also consume your crafting materials for stat boosts. So it becomes this whole battle-puzzle-crafting game with a lot of interesting choices. It's pretty dope! If not actually brilliant!

Also I don't play a lot of crafting or turn based games usually. So I am a bit out of my element. ;)
But this blend works great!

DK project spotting!
Image

During Copenhagen MatchUp I talked various local industry talent. Among those was this new team born out of the Viborg Animation Workshop mold. One Cut Games!
It was soooo nice to meet these super talented young guys with their souls lit on fire to start a company and make games. Even if that is not a focus of their education. It's still a a really good breeding ground for teams of passion and raw talent to meet up.

Check out their project and website here.
Their game is called 'Soul Surge'. There is a gameplay trailer and a pitch deck.

Ouch! Yet again the axe is brought out at Unity. Round 3 this time.
AND closing half of their offices! Unknown if Copenhagen will be affected. Hope all will be fine and good luck out there if affected!

After this they will still have a crazy big staff of 7000 employees.

But the articles mentions they had their first profitable quarter in February.. (probably ever?)
So glad to see the are actually managing to get the financial situation under control.. :)
It simply had to be done! Even though it was a hard process to terminate a lot of positions. As their earning capacity was just not enough.
Short and medium term looks brighter now. So that's super great! :D

I might have some long term concerns though.
Unity lays off 600 staff members, prepares to close half of its offices
Unity announced today that it’s having its third round of layoffs, with this one affecting 600 staff members. It’s also reducing its number of offices from 58 to 30 or less within the next few years. Allegedly these cuts are prompted by fears of a recession.

Triband shows no sign of stopping their 'What the Games' series!

What the Car? Just landed on Apple arcade.

No signs of other platforms just yet. But I would be surprised if it didn't land on other stores in the future.

Good job Triband!
