Australian Scholarship Student in Denmark

Unread post by samhakem » 17 Jul 2010, 03:07

Hi All!

My name is Sam...I am a 3D Game Art student from Melbourne and I have been awarded a scholarship to study in Denmark for 4 months from August. I am wanting to make the most of my time there so was hoping I could also find for 1 day a week an unpaid internship at a Danish Game Development studio.

While I am only an early student and still learning I would have quite a lot to offer, I have my own workstation with Maya, Mudbox, UV layout and can assist on projects while I learn and am happy to sign an NDA. I am quite skilled at concept art, orthographic and model sheet design and modelling and understand optimising edgeflow, polygon count restrictions and functional design for CG and in game including LOD, Ambient Occlusion, Normal Mapping, Spec Power Map and Diffuse map design but am still refining my texturing techniques at the moment. Essentially I am looking at learning what it is like in a full video game 3D pipeline studio and was hoping to learn from the industry!

I would work very hard and not get in the way and would require very little supervision. All I ask is to be able to learn and possibly contribute! The period would be about 3 months at 1 day a week. I would only expect to watch and ask questions occasionally and if I am assigned some work perhaps even a little feedback. I have completed a Certificate 4 in Design, Advanced Diploma in Design 3D Art and am currently completing a Bachelor in Design, 3D.

My academy is in Esbjerg and I am happy to travel!

Hi Sam,

welcome to Denmark :) I saw your post and just felt I had to write. I returned to Denmark 6 months ago after taking a 2-year Bachelor's Degree in Melbourne at QANTM College (now SAE). Are you studying at RMIT?

So I just wanted to say hi to a genuine Melburnian, I miss the city quite a bit :)
