The Team
Campfire Games is a company of highly dedicated developers, currently working on their first game. When development was started on War of Rights almost one and a half years ago. It was done by two rookie developers with close to no experience in game development. After a while we began taking game development very seriously and was after 8 months joined by the team behind the mod North & South. Today the team consists of 16 developers scattered around the globe.

Mads - Project Lead - Level Designer
Emil - Project Lead - Modeler - Texture Artist
Pat - Character Artist
Frede - Modeler
Stuart - Modeler - Texture Artist
Tom - Sound Engineer
George - Historical Advisor
Hinkel - Community Manager
Ali - Modeller - Texture Artist - Beautification Artist
Julius - Programmer
Igor - Level designer
Forrest - Programmer
Anthony - UI Engineer
Luke - 2D Artist/UI Designer
Flemming - Animator
Ryan - Environment Artist

The Project
War of Rights is a multiplayer game set during the perilous days of the American Civil War, in the Maryland Campaign of September, 1862. Campfire Games is devoted to presenting the gruesome and glorious elements of the period, while maintaining the highest level of historical accuracy and realism as is possible with the wonders of Cryengine 3.

Players in the game will be able to play on multiple battlefields of the campaign, from the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers where the Siege of Harper’s Ferry took place, to the ridgelines of South Mountain, and to the meandering waters of Antietam Creek at the Battle of Antietam. Additionally, players will also be able to choose from a list of regiments that fought in each battle as well as what rank to fight as, whether they want to slog it out as a lowly private, or if you want to orchestrate the carnage and mayhem as a major general.

Uniforms and bodily features will all be customizable for other players to see as you march and fight in the lines of battle according to the tactics of the period. As a General, you will operate in your headquarters equiped with a map of the battlefield and constantly receiving reports of friendly and enemy positions. Send out new orders to the regiments to move forward, or fall back – all in real time. The orders will move down the chain of command, to the Colonels, Majors, down to the Captains in charge of the individual regiments, all of whom have the option to follow the orders of their trusted commander, or rebel against his wishes and fight as you see fit.

Each map contains a period reconstruction of the buildings, farms, forests, roads, rocks, and Fancy Flowers that existed so players can fight through the streets of Harper’s Ferry, in the wooded heights of Fox’s Gap at South Mountain, or in the wheatfields and Bloody Lanes of Antietam. Players can feel the whiz of deadly shot and shell fly by their bodies, or hit their comrades or themselves as they scream in a bloody hail from their wounds. Limbs will fly and blood will be spilt once again as Campfire Games brings the fighting of the Civil War right to the player’s computer screen!

Will you heed the Union call against the traitors? Or will you fight to defend your family and livelyhood with the Confederacy? You decide!

The Progress
We're currently working on getting our first bunch of characters animated and ingame. When the game first started development, we decided on creating "The Battle of Antietam" which is our first map. There still needs to be created a lot of buildings for the various farms, apart from that, the map is starting to look quite polished. We look forward to soon start getting the game ready for some gameplay tests.

Open Positions

All jobs at Campfire Games are unpaid. We’re an indie team full of dedicated and passionate developers trying to get a foothold within the games industry.

Animator
Campfire Games is currently looking for a talented animators to create authentic first and third persion animations to be used in our upcoming game "War of Rights".

You'll be tasked to work on recreating some of the basic military movements of the era as well as more complicated ones such as reloading/vaulting etc.

It is of the utmost importance that you are able to recreate the movements of the civil war drill manuals the armies used in order to achieve the highest possible authenticity.

It would be a huge plus if you have worked with animations within CryEngine before, and therefore understand the pipeline. If you haven't you need to have worked with at least one other game engine. You'll be expected to be willing to study and learn the implementation process of CryENGINE as well as willing to put some work into the project. We do however already have some animations ingame and will be here to guide you through the process. You'll be the team's main animator - we do have an experienced animator on the team who will be able to function as a superviser should that be needed.

Re: Programmer needed for War of Rights
