Posted: 08 Dec 2015, 09:58
Art director wanted at the science at home project in the University of Aarhus. Science at home is a citizen science project, working with gamified research. This means, that we have a bunch of small, medium and big projects that all in some way serve a scientific purpose.
Our flagship project is about building a quantum computer. Some of the optimisation problems connected with that, we have expressed as a simple casual style game. Other projects include research into cognitive science, behavioural science, economy, etc. Our goal is to build a community of players, that play our games for fun, and in order to help science. We're also doing educational games, and research into didactic games.
So, we're doing a WHOLE lotta things .
You can check out our current website (the one we'd like help with) and current games (that we also want help with) here:
http://scienceathome.org/http://scienceathome.org/
The current team consists of a producer, two fulltime unity devs and 8 student developers. We facilitate building the games proposed by the scientific staff of the project: Physicists, Psychologists and cognitive scientists. We are well rounded on the technical side, but understaffed in the art department.
We're looking for a full time position. The candidate would be responsible for:
Developing a visual identity for the science at home brand.
Developing and Art directing a coherent visual style for the website, Metagame, games and educational games/simulations.
Act as art director for a small team of student helpers and interns.
Creating content for website and games (mainly 2D digital art)
Creating and animating 2D characters for meta game, explanatory videos, game railers, games and educational games
Assist with data visualizations
Run point on the design of the webpage. Ideally also being web developer
The ideal candidate has the following qualifications
Experience as Art director from a game company, website or both.
Excellent visual design qualifications, with a background in art, design and/or architecture
Experience with Unity, especially with 2D.
Experience with game development, mobile and/or web based games.
Excellent Photoshop / Illustrator / freehand drawing skills
BONUS SKILL: Experience with data visualisation.
BONUS SKILL: Experienced webdeveloper / webdesigner, capable of performing web development in Wordpress
I know that that is a very extensive list, and that we will likely not find someone that can do ALL of that stuff, so it's more like a guideline really.
We would like the candidate to start as soon as possible.
If this sounds like something you would like to do, please send CV, portfolio and application to:
