Posted: 11 Feb 2016, 11:50
PortaPlay is looking for a unpaid game design / level design intern to help us improve our atmospheric and calm-paced real-time-tactics PC game Tales from the Void, launching in Q2 this year.
A designer who can help us test, tweak and improve our levels, add puzzle-like areas, make combat balancing and generally improve the "feel" of the levels.
Tales from the Void is a game is about a group of WW1 soldiers stranded on an alien asteroid field, trying to get back to Earth.
The game is all about squad customization, loot, low-g movement and physics based combat, in maze-like free-floating 3D levels. And features mechanics like path-drawing, free roaming on 3D levels, bullet-time based turn planning, physics based gun-play, coordinated attacks, strange weapons and aliens etc.
The core gameplay, majority of levels, interactive elements, aliens, weapons, controls etc. are all done, leaving you with only the fun parts - improving the immersion and "fun factor" of the gameplay.
Check out our demo-trailer, for a impression of the game:
-old footage but representative for the gameplay.
What we are looking for
-Unity experience
-3D level design and/or game design experience
-Independent and solution orientated
-Artistic opinion and ambition
-Humor and team-spirit
We will prioritize applicants who can show nice looking/fun levels in 2D or 3D.
Your tasks will be e.g.:
-Gameplay situations (props and enemy placement)
-Some simple gameplay scripting (mission objectives, special events etc. -in PlayMaker)
-Game balancing and progression
-Optionally - Creation of new levels
-Optionally - Aestetic dress-up (environmental props like rocks, plants etc.)
-Optionally - level sorroundings (skybox tweaking, surrounding rock formations, lights tweaking etc).
The internship is unpaid, part-time or full-time, in CPH (Spilhuset) and we think you will have a great time. The duration is Start/Mid March -min. 1 month, preferably 2+ months.
Deadline for application is 24. february
