(Programmer) Co-founder for a well-developed project
Posted: 30 Dec 2016, 13:21
Hi everyone,
At House of Leafs we are looking for a programmer to join the company as a co-founder, and help the development of our game: Mutagenesis: Journey through the wastes. We recently lost our third co-founder and lead programmer and are now looking for his replacement.
About the game
The game combines tactical turn based 2D combat with isometric exploration. Main inspirations are games such as Darkest Dungeon, XCOM, Divinity: Original Sin and Wasteland 2. If you like old-school cartoons like Turtles, Transformers and Biker Mice From Mars as well as new stuff like Rick & Morty and Adventure Time, you should feel at home with the visual style of this project.
About us
We are currently a team of 10 people connected to the game in various ways. Of these 10 we are a founder (me - Game Director and producer) and a co-founder (Rune - Art director and illustrator). Rune and I are working full- and part time on the project, while the rest of the team members are connected with varying degrees of commitment. However, all aspects from sound over animation to 3D sculpturing and GUI are covered, so you will join a team that is in place, and a very developed concept.
About you
We expect you to be dedicated to this game and the company, and we expect that you know what kind of work it will take to build a company from the ground up. We don't expect you to necessarily participate in other aspects than programming, but you're welcome to do so.
Most importantly:
You have experience with Unity and programming in C#.
You stick to your deadlines and work hard.
Pluses:
You love the concept of the game
You have experience in managing roles
You have released games before
It goes without saying that we expect you to leave whatever job you might have in order to join the game full time, when we get financing for the project (until then, it's up to you how you find time for the project, but we'd expect you to spend around 15 hours per week or so). If you do not live in Copenhagen, we expect you to relocate, when that time comes as well. If everything goes well you will earn 10% equity in the company and have a poorly payed job in an exciting company.
Status and future
Status
We have developed a fully functioning version of the combat system, which is the most advanced system in the game. This code is well documented and should be easy to work with. The art style is well developed with 4 playable characters and 5 enemies. We have finished all art work for the first trailer, and have the animator to finish this trailer, when we get financing. We have two programmers working on a fortress/base system and dialogue + music system. Your very first job will be to develop the isometric map and exploration and tying the other pieces together.
Future
We are applying for funding to improve the GUI, finishing the trailer and developing the isometric part of the game in January. We then expect to be able to fund the full development of the game around June 2017. This is when we expect to start getting paid and make this the full time job for all the people involved.
