2D Art Director (position has been filled)
Posted: 14 Jun 2017, 14:31
At House of Leafs we are looking for a skilled and experienced art director to join our new project: A post-apocalyptic atmosphere heavy, retro-futuristic paraphrase of the Odyssey. Yep, that's right.
About us
We are a very young company with experienced people aiming to create games with a lot of edge. We believe that games as a medium have a lot of unexplored potential and that there are loads of ways to expand on the experiences for the user - even in old-shool genres such as point'n'click. We are driven by inspiration from music, cartoons, movies, art, games and much more. We believe that in order to create something outside the box, we need to move a bit outside the box.
About you
You are either young with 2-3 years in the industry or a senior looking to change out a corporate environment with a start-up environment. You need to be passionate about creating something meaningful and willing to work hard to do so. It's a big plus if you like to come up with crazy ideas, create weird characters, environments and so forth. The work with have a great possibility to come with your own input.
Though we aim at having fun, and prioritize a healthy work environment, we are a start-up with everything that means. If you don't know what that means, I will be happy to elaborate.
Generally we don't care about your years of experience in the games industry as long as your drawings are great, you are passionate and have proof that you know how to deliver finished products. So don't hesitate even if you have never worked on a game before, maybe your experience from other areas can bring something different to the game and company.
About the job
You will be working together with our illustrator, defining the style in the beginning of the process, but will have 100% responsibility of implementing it throughout the game. One of the major tasks will be to take our very raw, cartoony, hand-drawn style and transform it into something that works perfectly on multiple digital screens. In this process we also expect you to have a lot of agency and take a lot of responsibility. It is important that the end result reflect your personal style. Since both company and project are young entities, you will have the chance to be a defining part of both, and wanting to take that responsibility is very important.
Must-have Skills
Production starts in the middle of august.
The position is a freelance position for 2 months, but with the possibility of renewal and a more permanent employment afterwards.
We are located in Copenhagen
If you are interested, please let me know at Frederikdenning @gmail.com. Write a little bit about who you are, what your motivation is and be sure to include a link to your portfolio or attach previous works. We will answer all emails, and if we are interested, expect to be asked to produce a visual example.
