Good old Magnus has done some nifty work on procdural level building tools in Houdini/Unreal for The Ascent.
He was always the techart wiz on the team. :)
Besides he also had a pretty big stake in the early development of the Snowdrop engine. :cool:

DK project spotting!

It turns out my wonderful colleague Camilla Holler :D and her boyfriend Mathias is working on a spare time game project.
An atmospheric puzzle platformer called ATMO where you play a young girl in search of her dog, lost in an environmentally apocalyptic world.

The game is still in **early development**, since mid 2021'ish so everything can change a lot for sure. Estimating the final game is still many moons out in the future. I hope it makes it to the finish line! It sure is ambitious! :D

So far it's looks really nice and I am very much looking forward to taking it for a spin somewhere down the line. :D

And today is launch day of the VR game and basicly Indiana Jones Simulator! (Well..almost!) ;) Eye Of The Temple by @runevision after 5 years in the making as a solo developer project. Rune even quit his lucrative job at Unity to work on the project full time. The game is clervery designed to work within a 2x2 meters VR setup only using natural human locomotion.
Big grats on the release Rune!! :D Wooohooo!!

Only positive reviews so far! :cool:

A first look at Mind Diver a Filmschool project by Victor Breum + team. One of our former super nice interns! :)

The project is described as 'a mystery adventure inside the minds of two lovers.'

Probably two lovers using hallucinogenics. ;)
It sure looks trippy! But that's pretty cool! Also the first DK production to really lean into photogrammetry. Using the near raw imperfect mesh output as a visual asthetic.

Perhaps not a game for everyone. But an interesting concept I'm looking forward to taking for a spin.

BetaDwarf's next game, Project F4E. Formely known as Project HVN (Even formerly Project Haven) now has a first public playable!

Mind you it is in VERY early development so have expectations at a healthy low. There is not that much to do in the current september 20. build and the gameplay is not really hitting any big bars just yet. I do have good faith in the studio to pull something interesting off in the end. For now it looks pretty and it's nice to see the project is alive and well! :)
Also fun to see some of the descriptions of the gameplay on the discord is 'not that far' from my earlier wild speculation on the project. :)

Played the Mad Streets demo for a bit yesterday. It was fun and strangely addicting!
It's a physics based fighting/sort of brawli game. The fights works best with a lot of characters on screen. 4 in the demo.
Read the instructions there is a fair amout the players can go.

Nice to see more use of direct control physics based combat. Obviously not as tight as other fighting games in the genre not using physics. But it certainly have it's own charm. For me Human Fall Flat would quickly turn into a fighting game when playing with my little brat. ;) Non-direct control like in TABS is a different beast altoghter.

Give it a shot. There is potential here! :)

More game IP coming to the big screen.
I don't have much connection with the IP to be honest. Tried some of the games briely at some point. But was pretty bored with the amount of cut scenes.. 😅
Nice productions though!

Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) in the trailer looks pretty boyish to me. Doesn't really work that well. And the whole vibe in the trailer is a bit off.
Expecting mediocre (-) popcorn flick that will be forgotten in an instant.
Luckily there is always the original Indiana Jones trilogy to rewatch. 4 and the upcoming 5 doesn't exist in my book.

Oh yeah DARQ is free this week! Played it earlier, it was pretty nice! Not excatly Limbo or INSIDE quality (and so very different). But still worth your time if you have not been there yet.

The recent Unity 2021.2 updates.
Pretty good update nothing mind blowing. Nice with a bit of URP love.

The almost only thing I wish for now in Unity is not to be a >CONSTANT< pain in the asre to work in. With all it's endless "small wait time pop ups". Almost anything you do can send Unity in a random wait timer. From anything from a few seconds to serveral minutes. It is really destructive for your workflow and patience. :| :| :rolleyes
And not forgetting the buggy inspector.
And the constant breaking of various references in scene for no apparent reason.
And the terrible state of real time shadows.
