Peacock Games is looking for an IOS developer for a turn based strategy game, Hegemon, based on the IOS platform.
Poland 1853.
Oil has just been discovered, and mankind is about to embark on its greatest journey, leaving no one man, woman or child untouched. Never before in human history has energy been so freely available and the discovery marks the dawning of a new age, where no man shall suffer, and the streets will be paved with black gold.
Five nations hold the fate of the planet in their hands.
The Prussian Empire, led by King Frederick William IV, also known as the Romanticist on the Throne and the rejecter of the title of German emperor offered to him by the Frankfurt parliament, is recovering from the Revolutions of 1848 and is growing increasingly gloomy and conservative. The young politician Otto Von Bismarck is building a powerbase in the Diet of the German Confederation in Frankfurt and could, in due time, lay the foundation of the future European Union.
The Russian Empire, led by Tsar Nicholas I, a rigid disciplinarian, a lover of formality and a firm believer of the Divinity of the Sovereign's power, is dominating Europe in the wake of the revolutionary waves sweeping across the continent. He has taken an aggressive stance against his southern neighbors and has helped hasten the disintegration of the aging Ottoman Empire. A key player in the ascendency of Russia as a world power, will he continue to be instrumental in preparing Russia for greatness as one of the two dominating world powers of the 20th century?
The Ottoman Empire, led by Sultan Abdülmecid I, a staunch reformer and a loyal subject to his father’s legacy, has fought to keep the wolves at bay, whether they be Russian Cossacks or Egyptian Rebels. The Empire is on the brink of war and close to internal collapse. Aptly named The Sick Man of Europe by its enemies, it is about to stumble upon a huge pot of black gold. Could this good fortune provide a turning point for the empire, or will it continue its decline until a total collapse at the beginning of the 21st century?
United States of America, led by President Franklin Pierce, a man inaugurated with his hand on the law of Man, rather than the bible of God, while mourning the death of his only son, is enjoying economic growth as well as relative tranquility. New frontiers are everywhere, and the possibilities seem endless since no neighbors threaten the existence of the fledging nation. However, the debate over slavery threatens to tear the country in two, throwing the states into a bloody civil war and effectively halting its rise to becoming one of the two great powers of the 20th century.
Qing Dynasty of China, led by the Xianfeng Emperor, a young ruler with a reigning title meaning Universal Prosperity, is faced with internal as well as external challenges. The country is torn by civil war following the Taiping Rebellion, led by Hong Xiuquan, a man claiming to be the younger brother of Jesus, and is struggling not to descend into barbarianism and genocide. Will the emperor succeed in his campaign to unite China, or will the Middle Kingdom crumble under its own ambitions and descend into war and darkness on its path to becoming the greatest industrial power of the modern world?
Will you travel the road of the Romanticist, longing for structure, morality and simplicity, turning to history rather than the future for answers?
Will you complete the course of the Disciplinarian, focusing on order, discipline and predictability, always looking to expand your ever-increasing domain?
Will you follow the path of The Reformer, changing the world while keeping it in balance, trying to bridge the gap between the past and the present?
Will you take the route of The Rationalist, believing progress will lead to prosperity, trusting that the voice of reason will lead to a new Renaissance of Man?
Will you wander the way of the Warrior, marching towards world domination, hoping that you can conquer the world without destroying it in the process?
Will you rewrite or reproduce history?
The choice is yours.
Let the quest for oil and world hegemony begin!
The game is drawing upon influences from different classic board games such as Risk, Axis & Allies, CIvilization and Settlers, and employs a classic turn based game order with simple victory conditions depending on the type of game and players. Also integral to the game is an advanced tech tree as well as a world map with three types of resources in every region.
The developer should be an experienced IOS developer, and the ideal candidate also has some experience with cloud based development frameworks and/or infrastructure such as Microsoft Azure or others. However, students with a keen mind, and great programming skills can easily fit the profile as well, compensating for lack of experience with will to learn and the right frame of mind.
The current development team is comprised of a lead game designer, a graphical designer and a storywriter. The ideal candidate would be invited to join the team and gain ownership, but other models where developers are payed on a time and material basis is also possible.
Please post your online resume if available or just post if you're interested.
Can you conquer the world without destroying it?

Re: IOS Developer - TBS game - PAID
Are you looking for someone to work with Xcode, or are you considering using Unity or Unreal Engine 4?
Re: IOS Developer - TBS game - PAID
It could be either Xcode or Unity, since the game is drawing on boardgame methodology, and as such will most likely be presented as a 2D rendition. However, it's not a must, and the first step would be to produce a playable prototype based on either platform.

Brilliant!
Well I'm up for a Unity/Unreal Engine 4 project, so if you would post an e-mail where people can send their CVs, I would love to send you mine, and maybe hear more about some of the gameplay elements you have in mind.
