VP of Engineering (Unity Mobile Games), TrulySocial

London, Copenhagen until end of November

35,000 - 50,000 GBP, plus 2-4% equity

Company Description

At TrulySocial we work in a small (3-4 people) agile and distributed team. We are seeking a VP of Engineering to head our development team in London. The first 3 months, we will work out of Copenhagen, as we've joined the prestigious Startupbootcamp Mobile 2014 accelerator program.

At TrulySocial, we built the World’s First Flirtual Reality Game, and called it: Flirt Planet.

With Flirt Planet we aspire to make the world a more social, happier and less lonely place. Think of us as the people who help you bridge the gap between your online and offline worlds.

We built a new, fun, free-to-play casual game genre: The Flirtual Reality Game. Through innovative gameplay our players immerse themselves in engaging romantic encounters with artificial intelligence characters, while enhancing their social skills.

We blend together social interactions, human courtship, behavioural psychology and neuroscience with video game mechanics.

Thus, we are first to market with:
1. gamification of social, flirting and dating interactions,
And 2. a virtual dating advisor within a 3D cross-platform video game.

As the VP of Engineering (VPE), you will be responsible for driving execution of the mobile games and apps product roadmaps, from writing specs to interfacing directly with our designers, analysts and engineers. You will work in a close-knit product team, delivering best in class gaming/dating experiences for our mobile user base.

The role involves the following responsibilities:

* Manage all aspects of the mobile product development cycles including setting out the scope, managing progress, and reporting efficiently to all stakeholders.
* Mange unit tests, system tests and regression tests.
* Estimate work units.
* Maintain consistent and timely Agile workflow management through Jira (or other SCRUM).
* Write code and play an active role in developing new features for our scalable games and apps.
* Work with the development team and the product owner to define a prioritized backlog of stories that the team will tackle during a given sprint.
* Manage and motivate the distributed team, getting them to hit deadlines.
* Monitor team’s progress and take ownership of removing any impediments that slow the team down.
* Mentor people on the team and help them improve their efforts.
* Assess and communicate how your work impacts business and other systems.
* Collaborate across design and engineering to ensure efficient product delivery
* Write clear and concise requirements supported by our, or your, UI/UX skills where necessary.
* Work with our data analysts and product owner to define, measure and quantify the success of new features, which will include new gamification and social features, opportunities for greater monetization, and conversion, plus identifying completely new product development opportunities.
* Manage the relationship with Apple, Google, Facebook and other third party companies.

You should apply if:

* You are a Unity and/or Xamarin guru
* You are comfortable with C++ but also have a black belt in Excel.
* You are a technically strong candidate with several years of experience of working on casual/mid-core games. Experience with iOS / Android social apps is desirable.
* Technical Architect experience desirable, but not required.
* You have a proven track record in team management and Agile Development Management.
* You have experience with migrating/transitioning projects from and between teams.
* You have a sound understanding of programming fundamentals and know how they apply to highly scalable mobile games and applications.
* You are comfortable making hands-on contributions, i.e. write code that is deployed to production servers.
* You have excellent collaboration and communication skills.
* You have a strong commercial focus and the ability to prioritize tasks accordingly.
* You have experience with A/B or Multivariate testing.

We primarily develop in Unity and Xamarin. It’s ok if you haven’t used Xamarin before – as long as you are willing to learn. But experience with Unity is highly desirable.
We offer a competitive salary and a wonderful, diverse, work environment in the heart of London and a chance to work on a fast-growing, innovative product.
