I can neither confirm or deny I worked on an earlier iteration of this game! But it is nice to see it out and about.

EmberGen... really nice tool for working with realtime fire/fluid simulation. Perfect for tech artistry wanting to render out spritesheets.

And now a dive into the weird wacky world of mobile AR.
Recent release:
ARBlox: Tower Crash Fall: Real-Time Social Multiplayer (Early Access)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... lox.towers
Slightly older release
ARBlox: ARacers - Carpet Drift, real-time multiplayer (Early Access)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... lox.racing
ARblox. Build & Play Together. No Limits. Mobile AR
Another project I was involved in was ARBlox.
I masterminded and co-developed the original concept. On a spare time basis 2 person team. It has changed a bit since my involvement. The basic idea was to create a social network for AR creation and games. Back when mobile AR was fresh and new. And nobody really had any idea where it was going. I consider the entire field of mobile AR the coolest and fascinating mobile technology... nobody really cares about using. Sadly. It's a tough space so occupy at the moment.
Back when we started out. Late 2017 I think it was. It felt like anything could happen. And an entire new field might open up in AR. And this was the moment to have a rare shot at a new open window of opportunity. Soon to be AR capable devices in millions of people pockets! That's insane! So we jumped in!
The project was not fully realized. But we got a good way with the prototype! And there was some actual fun moments to be had. Walking around building, and interacting with your own physicality on virtual objects is just pretty cool!
Oh yeah it was also the plan to have fallback. Non-AR functionality. Which was working but not fully realized like many things (we did go a little crazy on scope and features. But It was/is a fun playground for a lot of things). And lots of more crazy ambitious plans.
I'm sure AR (glasses) will arrive and play an important role for consumers somewhere in the years to come. Apple will most likely spark an interest in the headset/glasses AR field within a few years. (maybe 2022-2023) and beyond. I'm sure a lot of people will loose their minds when Apple does the first announcement. But expecting the devices to come with a premium price range.
If the AR field will transition into a real consumer friendly self-sustainable platform. Developers can make a living off in the short term. Remains to be seen. Likely the whole field for consumer based AR is 5-10 years out. Or much much further. Time will tell.
I'm sure military, industry, training etc. will have a foundation for AR in the current and near future. And eventually consumers will adopt it in more significant numbers. Though if it will crawl beyond significant niche. I dare not say. There is a >theoretical huge potential<. But it actually happening is another story.
They are still working on ARBlox updates. I hope it goes well! And wish them all the best!

Jeppe having a talk about ARBlox
ARBlox (the company) is keeping very busy and also working on an upcoming AR puzzle game, The Door. Looks pretty! I am looking forward to give it a spin sooner or later.
Also another DK AR project I was involved with. (1 day a week over a few months. Was Little Alice from Step in Books. Last time I heard, that project was not moving forward though.
Jonas Schneider (German Jonas) demonstrates a bit from the prototype. Oh yeah he totally forgot to credit me and a few other people on his site who worked on the project.
http://jonas-illustrat.es/little-alice
Mark AR from our very own Copenhagen based SYBO Games is also developing a social network for AR creation. With a location anchored graffiti focus. (Not a game I think). So the question is if SYBO with their GAZILLIONS of dollars can launch an AR based social network? My best guess is that it will be one tough cookie to pull through.

Holy shit!
That China and Fortnite money surely does it's thing.
Epic Games acquires photogrammetry startup Quixel to make games more realistic
Epic said that it will make Quixel’s bundled tools, dubbed Bridge and Mixer, and all of Quixel’s Megascans library assets available free for everyone with the Unreal Engine, and Epic will retain all of the 100-plus employees of Quixel. Epic made the announcement at its Unreal Academy London event. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Well the visual upgrade of the Sonic character certainly helped a lot. Looks like a perfectly Hollywood run of the mill kiddy popcorn flick. Might go see it with the kiddo if he is into it. Wouldn't happen on my own time.

Everwild. New IP from (not so indie) Microsoft owned, Rare.
Clear Princess Mononoke inspiration.
Crimson Desert - Official Reveal Trailer.
Upcoming MMO. They are selling it like it's almost a package compareable to a single player RPG in the vein of "Game of the Witcher Rings". Hmmm... lets see.
PLAN 8 - Official Reveal Trailer

More advances in machine learning based animation
AI4Animation
This project explores the opportunities of deep learning for character animation and control as part of my Ph.D. research at the University of Edinburgh in the School of Informatics, supervised by Taku Komura. Over the last couple years, this project has become a modular and stable framework for data-driven character animation, including data processing, network training and runtime control, developed in Unity3D / Tensorflow / PyTorch. This repository enables using neural networks for animating biped locomotion, quadruped locomotion, and character-scene interactions with objects and the environment. Further advances on this research will continue to be added to this project.

So there has been rumors about a Half-Life based VR title for a long time now.
Looks like Valve is almost ready to talk more about it (Half-Life: Alyx) on Thursday.
Cool bananas!
There are also rumors of Valve working with Apple on AR content.
